Ironman and 70.3 Cairns 2015

We had 10 athletes compete this weekend, some in the half and some in the Ironman.

70.3 Results

Katey Gibb// Finish: 04:37:26// Swim: 00:27:24 Bike: 02:39.19 Run: 01:26:58

Katey had a cracking start to the race with a great swim as always coming in at 4th place out of the water. On the ride she was unfortunate enough to collect some glass in one of the tyres causing a flat. She lost at least 10 minutes getting a new tyre on her bike pushing her back to 9th after the bike. She dug deep though and ran herself into 4th place, overtaking 5 of the other pro women in the last 2 km. Very gutsy performance by Katey, only let down by some glass on the road.

Kate had the fastest female swim of the day at 25:08. Also a solid time of the bike at 02:35:42. Unfortunately Kate succumbed to a knee injury and could not complete the run resulting in a DNF.

Miim had a very solid performance and is improving with each race. 6th place in the pro women.

Awesome result yet again for Lauren with 2nd place in her age group, very well structured race from Lauren on the day.

Emily Banyard// Finish: 05:11:44// Swim: 00:31:12 Bike: 02:43:56 Run: 01:49:36

Nice 4th place finish for Emily (pulling off a bit of a Steven Bradbury).

Beth Menna// Finish: 05:56:26// Swim: 00:35:58 Bike: 02:48:06 Run: 02:25:44

Awesome to see Beth do her first sub 6 hour race. Big PB for Beth!!

Dan Page// Finish: 05:07:12// Swim: 00:30:59 Bike: 02:34:54 Run: 01:54:47

Another solid race from Dan Page. Couldn’t hold him down long enough for a photo.

IRONMAN Results

Marco Noe// Finish:  10:23:32// Swim: 01:01:12 Run: 05:32:14 Bike: 03:42:01

Marco was solid throughout this whole race and it paid off with a massive PB of 27 minutes and 10th place in the 25-29 age group.

Ian Mossenson// Finish: 11:55:22// Swim: 01:08:28 Bike: 06:18:13 Run: 04:14:28

4th place finish for Ian in the 60 – 64 age group.

Amy Van Dyke// Finish: DNF// Swim: 01:19:29 Bike: 06:18:19 Run: DNF

Sadly Amy was unable to finish the race today due to injury.
